Odissi Pallavi in Raga Kirwani. |Gunjan Sandhya 2021
Pallavi is also pure dance and implies elaboration; an exposition not only of the dance but also of the music that accompanies it. The graceful and lyrical movement of the dancer's form is supported by intricate rhythm patterns of exceptional beauty. Like the blossoming of a flower, the Pallavi gradually unfolds the particular Raga upon which it is based: thus a beautiful tapestry of rhythm, music and movement is created. . Lord Krishna, who is known to be very mischievous and playful was concerned about his complexion and thought that Radha would never like him because she was extremely fair. On complaining about the same to his mother Yashoda, she asked him to apply colour on Radha and so he did making her look like him. Boita Bandaana | Bali Yatra | Kartik Purnima | Odiya Parba
In the Occasion of Kartika Purnima, Gunjan presents "Boita Bandaana". Boita Bandana literally means 'sanctifying of boats'. The daring ocean-faring merchants of Kalinga known as "Saadhabas" used to sail the high seas in boats in order to transact trade with the merchants of Bali. The wives of these merchants Sadhava Bohus would pray for a safe voyage of their husbands and consecrate the boats - Boita Bandana. Every Parba or festival has some historical evidence. It coincides with the Bali Yatra, the largest open air fair in the world. The day is popularly known as Kartik Purnima. Kumarpurnima | Odiya festival | Parba |Gunjan dance academy
Kumara Purnima is the full-moon day in the month of October-November. It is observed as the birthday of goddess Laxmi, the deity of wealth. The day is also known as Kumara Purnima when young girls in Odisha perform traditional rituals with the belief of getting ideal life partners. The full moon is the centre of attraction in this festival. Girls raise the ‘Chanda chakata’ and pray to the moon. The moon is also synonymous to a handsome husband that the girls are seeking for themselves. Old grannies are of the opinion that a girl has to see the ‘Udila Janha’ (the fresh moon that has just risen on the horizon) for a young and attractive husband; if one takes too long to see the just-risen moon, then an old and senile bridegroom is in their destiny. Various other events like Chanda Chakata, Anjulis and the beginning of 'kartika' month. . Dancers - Swarnamayee , Bhagyashree, Sweekruti, Munmun and Swapna. Music- Traditional music Concept and thought- Gunjan team Dance Direction - Guru Meera Das Videography- Shibani Parija
